Plus size style on a budget

Yes, you can be stylish on a budget. Luxury items are nice, but you can look like a million bucks for considerably less. It's all in how you style things.

The key to not breaking the bank is finding new ways to wear what you already have in your wardrobe instead of buying something new. Old items can feel new again with the right restyle. This dress was a steal from Target. It was in the $30 range when I purchased it to wear to a wedding more than a year ago. Even though it was affordable, I don't like the idea of wearing something once and then forgetting about it.

You can get a lot of use out of items when you wear them in different ways. This dress looked lovely when paired with brown leather wedges for an outdoor fall wedding. Throwing on a pair of shiny black combat boots makes it look much more casual and edgy for everyday wear. I added a matching shiny black wristlet that my mom gave me when she was cleaning out her closet. I think having the boots and purse match helps to balance the harder elements harmoniously with the floral and flow of the dress. It looks more purposeful.

The boots are the only new item I'm wearing. I've been wanting a pair of Doc Martens combat boots. Those can run anywhere between $90-$140. I found this pair on ASOS for only $45 and I actually like them more than the pricier boots I've been eyeing. I like that they are shiny and the faux leather has an animal print texture that makes them really unique and cool. It's always worth a shot to find cheaper versions of brand name items.
