Small Business Saturday

The holiday season is in full swing. The tree is up and the sales are on. I'm not much of a black Friday shopper (unless the deals are available online), but I do like to participate in small business Saturday.

My husband and I headed to the shops on Prescott street. This little block has so much to offer. Local shops, boutiques, a bakery and a coffee shop. Malls aren't really my thing, so I love areas like this where you can explore and wander into a variety of unique shops.

The weather was perfect and it was so great to see lots of people out supporting these small, locally owned businesses. We spent most of our time at Home & Closet, a vintage store that has a little bit of everything. You can browse records, furniture, home decor, clothing and accessories. They also feature some locally made items that are perfect for gift giving, like jewelry, art, bags, cards and t-shirts.

I was mostly eyeing their selection of vintage purses and talked my husband into purchasing a $17 leather bomber jacket for himself. Yes, I let him take breaks from his duties as photographer to do some shopping too. I also spotted lots of potential gift ideas for some of the hard to shop for people on my list...including me!

I stayed comfy and cozy while shopping in some black skinny jeans, a super soft striped long sleeve tee and this amazing pixelated leopard print sweater coat. I also wore my winter white boots because now is the time. After working up an appetite shopping, we had dinner at a locally owned restaurant (where I had a delicious Cuban sandwich) and stopped into a newly opened local brewery for a flight of craft beers. Perfect small business Saturday.
